Youth Work in Trades

What It Is:
The Youth Work in Trades program offers up to four high school courses for students who are working or have worked in a trade regulated by SkilledTradesBC (formerly ITA BC).

  • Use 480 paid work hours toward your apprenticeship.
  • Experience a smooth transition from school to the workforce.
  • May qualify for a $1,000 Youth Work in Trades Scholarship.

 

Scholarship Opportunity: $1,000 
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:

  • Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Be registered as an apprentice through the Langley School District.
  • Graduate with a Dogwood Diploma or Adult Dogwood.
  • Complete all four Youth Work in Trades courses.
  • Earn a C+ average or better in their Grade 12 courses.
  • Complete 900 hours of work-based training reported to SkilledTradesBC by August 31 of the award deadline year (determined by the student's birthdate).

 

Student Requirements:

  • Obtain parent/guardian permission.
  • Be 15–19 years old.
  • Be currently working or have worked in one of the 100 trades regulated by SkilledTradesBC.
